Nipun Malhotra

Nipun Malhotra is co-founder and CEO of the Nipman Foundation that works in the area of health and advocacy for Persons with Disabilities. He is a visiting Research Fellow at World Enabled, a Pineda Foundation initiative. He is a member of the CII National Committee on Special Abilities that promotes inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in the corporate sector. And is on the board of Directors at Vishwas, a non-profit working on disability and development. Malhotra is the Executive Director of Nipman Fastener Industries – a leading automotive fastener manufacturing company in India.

Nipun is an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi School of Economics and the Indian School of Business. He is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, an honorary member of CII Young Indians and a part of the Kellogg Innovation Network. The Indian Red Cross Society recognized him with the ‘Social Entrepreneur’ Award in 2018.

Nipun has been at the forefront of numerous efforts to ensure access for the disabled. The wheelchair access filters in restaurant listings on Zomato, the availability of wheelchairs at the recent NH7 and the Jaipur Literature Festival, are direct results. He also lobbied with the Delhi Government to get the Disabled exempted from the Odd-Even car rule. He audited the Rajghat, Tihar, Mandoli and Rohini Jails on behalf of the Delhi High Court in 2018. Since August 2016 he is part of NITI Aayog’s (formerly the Indian Planning Commission) experts panel. He worked with the CISF to ease security procedures for Persons with Disabilities at airports. defeated the Delhi government in the High Court via a PIL on the procurement of accessible public transport. This judgement changes the came for public transportation across the country.

He is the Curator of the Nipman Foundation Microsoft Equal Opportunity Awards that recognize organizations making significant contributions to the disabled in the workspace and lifestyles.

He is the founder of ‘Wheels for Life’ (www.wheelsforlife.in) – a crowdsourcing platform connecting those who need wheelchairs to donors who can financially contribute for them. With a presence in ten states, ‘Wheels For Life’ has impacted close to 1,000 individuals.

An avid tweeter, Nipun writes regularly on Disability issues. His writing has appeared on Scroll.in, the Indian Express, NDTV Blogs, The Print etc. He has also authored a comic titled ‘No red card for the disabled’.

Nipun was born with Arthrogryposis, a rare congenital disorder. He is a wheelchair user.

  • Pravin Malhotra

    Pravin Malhotra is Chairman and Managing Director of the Nipman Group. Nipman manufactures Automotive Fasteners, Cold Forged Components and Steering System Components (in collaboration with Il Ryung, Korea) for the automotive industry.

    He was a member of the National Executive Committee of ACMA and Co-chaired the RAW Material Committee. At ACMA, he has been a mentor to various industry cluster programs to develop industry in the SME sector. He has represented Indian industry interests as part of business delegations to several countries.

    Malhotra is a passionate philanthropist and an active Rotarian.

  • Peter Griffin

    Peter Griffin is a writer and journalist. He has lived in various parts of India, but came of age in Bombay, and still calls it home, though he lives next door, in New Bombay. He does not remember a time when he was not interested in things that help people living with disability live life more fully, perhaps because his brother lived with several, and needed a wheelchair for mobility.

  • Mary Therese Kurkalang

    Mary Therese Kurkalang is an Art Manager and Communication Consultant. She started her career in 1995 working with people with disabilities before moving to the arts and publishing.

    She set up an independent practice, KHUBLEI, in 2012 through which she works across disciplines — culture, art and books. KHUBLEI has a special focus on human rights related projects.

  • Madhu Khatri

    Madhu Khatri is Associate General Counsel at Microsoft India since 2011, prior to that she was General Counsel at Wipro and also worked at GE Health and PwC. Khatri completed her masters at the Columbia Law School and is an expert in Corporate Law and Intellectual Property.

  • Jai A. Dehadrai

    Jai A. Dehadrai is an Advocate in the Supreme Court of India & Delhi High Court. He is currently working as Counsel in the Office of the Additional Solicitor General of India - Mr. ANS Nadkarni, and is Managing Partner at Dehadrai & Co. He practices Civil & Criminal Litigation and is an expert in Startups, E-Commerce and General Corporate Legal Support. He has been practicing since 2011.

    Dehadrai studied law in University of Pune and the University of Pennsylvania.

  • Ishita Anand

    Ishita Anand is the Founder and CEO of BitGiving. A self confessed geek, Anand was quick to be bitten by the technology startup bug and started her first venture at an early age of 22. Passionate about making impossible dreams come true, through her fin-tech venture, she envisions revolutionising crowdfunding in India.

    An erstwhile film-maker, Anand is an alumnus of Lady Shri Ram College. She is also affiliated with the Lean In Foundation and is heading the circles for Women Entrepreneurs in India.

  • Anish Chandy

    Anish Chandy heads business development at Juggernaut Books. He is the founder of the Labyrinth Literary Agency, and was a Senior Commissioning Editor at Penguin Random House. Prior to his publishing sojourn, he was a business intelligence consultant with Infosys for North America. Chandy has an MBA from T.A. Pai Management Insititute, Manipal.

    He is co-founder of WikifyIndia, a non-profit which offered an online platform to combat India’s tedious Government to Citizen bureaucracy. His other passions are slow travel, martial arts, and the stock market.
